Is this a normal period and could it encourage infertility?

I’ve had my period for 4 years. I get excessive cramps, leg and back pain. I bleed extremely heavily and the lining of my uterus comes out in ‘chunks’. I know that’s normal, it just happens quite a lot with me.
I loose quite a lot of blood, my pads fill up quite quickly and if i’m not careful they overflow.

Sorry to be so detailed, but thanks for any help.

Sometimes, really heavy bleeding and excruciating cramps can be from a condition called endometriosis. Its sorta rare, odds are you probably don’t have it, but its worth looking in to. Wiki it and see if the description fits you. Other than that, some of us simply do suffer from a hellish period, and it could be nothing more serious than that. If your period comes on a regular basis and is not irregular, then I would say you probably don’t have to worry about infertility at all.

Yes, I am the same way, and I have always been told its normal.

(My mom has always been that way, and she is healthy down there, and had me! plus, the dr told me not to worry, I’m healthy.)

I know exactly what you mean though… its gross, and used to make me really nervous. I have overflowed a few pads, too; you may want to use tampons if you haven’t tried them.

I’ve had that too but not for too long. I’ve noticed each time I’m on stress and have my period, I’m overly soaked too (if I could use a diaper lol!).

Anyway, I have my Aunt who went through such excessive bleeding and thought it was normal too. But unfortunately, it was already the sign of endometriosis which is common cause of infertility. My point is not to scare you but, as we all say.. "prevention is better than cure."

There’s nothing wrong to learn the signs of infertility and to check with your OB.
