What to expect when going to gyno about infertility?

Me and my husband have been trying to get pregnant for over a year now with no luck. I have made an appointment at the gyno to see if their are any issues. Do I need to set up an appt for him somewhere as well? Should he be going to the gyno with me as well? What should I expect when I go to the gyno? I am kind of nervous because I do not know what to expect and also worried there may be something serious wrong. Any tips or advice is greatly appreciated!

  1. Kisses it better ? says:

Its easiest if you go to the Gynaecologist and explain what has been happening. He/she will need to know how long your monthly cycle is, how regular it is, how often you have sex and when during the month, sometimes its a simple as not having sex around the time you ovulate. They might also ask for your cervical smear history and if you ever had any STDs, these are standard questions.

No doubt he/she will take your blood pressure and may check a urine sample and arrange for blood tests to check you are ovulating.

The Gynaecologist will arrange for your husband to come in and will probably want him to provide a semen sample. He can go with you this initial appointment if you want its up to you.

Try not to worry, worry just makes things seem worse than they really are. Even if you and your husband do have a fertility problem mostly these things can be overcome. Best of luck.
